Desch Family History

This is what I believe to be the story is at this time based on information from several differant Desch Researchers.

Ferdinand Desch Sr. was born in Mernes Germany (Still to be confirmed) in 1825.  At the Age of 8 he immigrated to the United States with his Parents who both died at Sea, possibly a brother and a sister, John Desch, John Desch and Adam Desch.  He lived for a time with the younger of the two John Desch's.  Adam Desch later moved to Indiana and We believe the younger John Desch later moved to be with him.  The younger John Desch is later found building a Church in that area.  It is possible the younger John Desch may have taken Ferdinand Desch Sr.  brothers or sisters with him.

Ferdinand Desch purchased land next to the older John Desch that stayed in Mercer County.  Below is information sent to me from another Desch Researcher.

The Desch land lays along the same road as the cemetery--the north-south St. John's Road. It lies in Section 14, however, which is indicated in the following excerpt from a letter in 1976:

This information was taken from the Book of First Entries in the Recorder's Office of the Mercer Country Courthouse. This office does not have copies of these deeds, but they may be available from Federal Land Records. Most of these early deeds were the so-called Land Patents, and the going rate was $1.25 per acre! The purchases would have been made through the Land Office at Piqua, and later Wapakoneta, and the deeds were then recorded at the Mercer County seat, which was St. Marys until 1839.

Deeds recorded on 7 April 1835: (all in Marion Township).

Margaret Desh (sic)            N1/2  NE1/4

Jacob Desh            S 1/2  NE 1/4

John Desch    N1/2    SE 1/4

Ferdinand Desh      S 1/2, SE 1/4

all in Section 14;  all are 80 acres each

The 1888 Atlas of Marion Township shows a Fred. Desch as owner of the NE 1/4 of
Section 14, at 160 acres."
